For Anjali Kara, sex is all about acting. And she is pretty good at it. At the top of the adult entertainment business in South East Asia, this Bangkok based Delhi girl earns top dollar for her steamy video clips and web photo-shoots.
And guess what? There is no sob story about how she got into this line. In fact, she has no regrets. She sees nothing wrong in what she does and is categorical that she’s not a prostitute, but an actress.

Q: Isn’t it awkward to have sex with so many men?
'Why do you call it sex? It is only acting. I have 'acted' with many men and women, but I have never made love to anyone' she makes the distinction sitting in a Delhi hotel room.
She is on her way to Bangalore, for work. Not a porn video shoot, but for a live show at a party thrown by one of Bangalore's richest business magnet.
Her stop-over in Delhi was with the aim of trying to meet her family- mother & brother.
Q: How is your relationship with your family?
'I left India when I was 16 and have not seen them or spoken to them since' says the 21- year old. Her trip proved futile as her family refused to meet her. They had disowned her after they learnt of her chosen line of work.
'I had always wanted to be on the cover of magazines. I am beautiful and knew I was star material. But despite trying all the modeling agencies I could not get any work without contacts' she says.
Her big break came when she became the face of a phone sex club.
Q: How did you break into the industry?
'After my picture was published with a phone receiver inviting callers
to call a phone sex line, I was flooded with offers from similar companies.
I was thrilled that I was getting work and recognition too.
'I think I am and was way better than those hypocritical girls who look homely and docile but live secret lives of sin' she says. But it was this work
that eventually led to her split with her family.
'My brother saw my picture in a desi porn magazine- don't be shocked everyone's brother and fathers look at porn, just open their drawers and
you will know what I am talking about- and that was that.
He told my mother and they gave me an ultimatum. I also had an offer to go to Bangkok at that time, the adult entertainment industry was 'hiring'. So I made my choice and went to Bangkok.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Anjali is the face of the Indian girl in the porn industry. 'I am rich, famous, a businesswoman and a lot hotter than any Bollywood diva. I love to be in front of the camera. I have a special talent and I want to show more of it.
Q: Have you ever been ashamed of your line of work?
’I am a porn star and I am proud of it' she says. She is a star- with her own make-up man, flashy designer costumes and loads of websites devoted to her.
Working here is hard work, but pays well. Anjali gets paid by the minute - which means the longer the act continues, the more she makes. She also
gets more if unnatural sex is involved. And if the co-star is black, her pay packet gets fatter.
She had her debut in teen sex and lesbian videos. Though she admits that
her job is not easy, she does add that the adult- entertainment industry in Bangkok is well organized.
Q: How hygienic is the porn industry? And how many girls are actually part of it willfully?
'There are many girls I work with, who are not oppressed or forced into the porn industry, but they are here for money and some stardom'.
Our health is also taken care off. We go for regular check-ups for HIV and everyone has a medical fitness certificate. What she does not like is some of her co-stars.
Q: Any turn-offs in this industry?
'Just like Bollywood, some of the men here are really pathetic and then you have to do so many re-takes. It gets very irritating then. But then, its all about acting, isn't it'? she asks.
Asked if she will ever come back to India permanently, she replies in negative. 'Indians do not and will never understand what I am doing.

Well, to be honest I am not. I don’t drink, nor smoke and do not sleep around in my personal life. For me, sex is acting.
Q: Any parting shot?
'I want to get married, have a husband and children. I want a proper Punjabi wedding with all the ceremonies, the lehenga and the mehendi' she laughs.
But she is certain that her husband will not be an Indian. 'Not because I have anything against Indian men but I know that once I tell him what I do, no Indian man will be able to accept me.
And I know I will not lie about my profession to the man who will be the most important person in my life, she says.
Q: So what next? Where do you think you’re headed?
Her prompt reply is 'Direction'. Having worked in more than 50 porn flicks I now want to go behind the camera and direct porn films. 'Actors have better sensibilities so can become better directors' she laughs...
